Investor, being from that part of the world I can vouch that things work very differently in that part of the world. Unfortunately our friends on the SI threads tend to view any situation in a very Ramboistic manner. We all hastened to denounce Saudi Arabia for their telethon to raise funds for the grieving families of the suicide bombers. But the moderate folks there in Saudi surely do have their own way to bring the radical elements into their fold. It does take time. And I am confident that they all will all come around and make peace.

As for the Israelis, I sure do hope that the American Jewish lobby does not encourage the belligerency of Sharon and his men. It is very easy to fall prey to the desire of making tons of money by selling arms to Israel and others by encouraging Israel to maintain a war like posture.

So we all will wait and see what happens in the Middle East especially in light of your last sentence in your post and I quote: <<.............If Israel rejects consistency, is peace their true goal?>> All I would add to that is not just reject but also if they (Israel) come up with conditions which make achieving peace very hard.

If Hamas and Hezbollah etc, who have alway's been consistent in their views, renounced violence and embraced the Arab League resolution, shouldn't they be taken seriously?

Who is talking about renouncing violence and embracing any vision that includes Israel? Not Hamas, I assure you.

If Israel rejects consistency, is peace their true goal?

Hamas has displayed great consistency in aiming for the total destruction of Israel. Their spokesmen suggest that there is plenty of room in Wyoming for the Israelis (seriously). Is it anti-peace to reject your own destruction?

Fox news reported that Chairman Arafat is taking heat for inviting some groups like Hamas to join his government. IMO, it's a remarkable example of him trying to think "outside the box", and give Israel the consistency they require for peace.

People who murder children with suicide bombs in power will never bring about peace. Just a pause in the war until they can obtain more and better wepons.

If Hamas and Hezbollah etc, who have alway's been consistent in their views, renounced violence and embraced the Arab League resolution, shouldn't they be taken seriously? If Israel rejects consistency, is peace their true goal?

Russia took Hilters peace treat seriously. They probably should have read his book first. The leaders of Hamas and Hezbollah have said they will accept nothing less than Israel pushed into the sea. Was that a lie or them accepting peace be the lie? Either way they will be liars.
