Perhaps you are correct with what she would say. But you would be surprised how ones psychology is affected by being in a losing position, compared to a person who is a bystander. Her having to ask in the first place tells me at least part of her is hoping price will move back up.

Happy to help! :-)

>>shes a little ole lady<< I don't understand why she wasn't in REITs then for the last few years. SHe could have been earning over 15% had she owned them back in 1999. No one wanted boring high yield stuff then and they were paying obscene high rates.

If this sell off gets nasty, I would have her get into them if they take hard hits and the yields get back up there.

Stay away from the mortgage ones, banks and stuff like that and stick with healthcare IMO My favs are HCN, SNH, HR, HPT, NHP etc.

A few energy guys might be OK if they dip though the payouts aren't as solid. HGT is Gas, and BPT is a Oil play but the dividends are hit and miss depending on energy prices and tend to run around 9-10% so the trick is to get them when oil and gas are cheap and the dividends are low or about to stop and then you have the cushion to ride out the bad times and yet reap huge rewards when prices go back up and the yields shoot through the roof based on your entry.

Tell her not to feel bad, I once received an e-mail from a guy in his 70s that lost his short on internet stocks. At least she had something people at large 'thought" was a fairly safe play.

Good Luck,

Lee
