interesting scenarios...thanks Bob...so it seems (if i read this correctly) that in theory you'd lose 50 cents to the smelter, but you can lose several times that due to the 'spread' when you try to cash in...

IF this is generally known, perhaps that is why the bags of silver coins are kicking around in high quantities ? because if and when silver moonshots, the only way to get a totally fair payback is to sell the bags to someone else...

or maybe given the #'s you mention, we should all be buying shares in the refiners -g-

the coin guy i use in toronto is not short of silver dollars either...and he spends a lot of time playing solitaire on the computer !
