It is what happens after the elections that makes a nation a democracy. Not the swearing in of some Cabinet ministers etc. If what happens between elections is that people are butchered in the hundreds and the perpetrators of such crimes are never brought to book, then it is a democracy only in name. Of course, the butchering of innocents is not the only thing that happens in India, but the total disregard for the rights of its poorer classes almost on a daily basis, across the country.

And even if the choice were between India and Pakistan, as I pointed out, there is not much of a difference between the two. And certainly not as much as you have painted it to be.

Finally, the liberal secularist stance of India is rapidly becoming a thing of the past now. Just parroting that makes little sense. It is nothing more than an empty slogan.
