Hong Kong's Asat reports loss, but sales up 23% in quarter

HONG KONG -- Hong Kong's Asat Holdings Ltd. reported sales of $27.8 million in its fourth fiscal quarter, up 23% from $22.6 million in the third quarter but down 42.9% from $48.7 million in the like period a year ago.

Net loss for the fourth quarter was $15.9 million, compared to a deficit of $17.1 million in the previous period. It reported a loss of $14.2 million in the like period a year ago.

The loss in the fourth quarter included a net loss of $4.1 million before taxes on disposal of a land use right in China.

The provider of IC packaging and test services expects to achieve 20-25% sequential revenue growth in Q1 of fiscal 2003.
