Indeed, the original article exists. But that's about it. Two points: 1) A trial date was supposed to be yesterday--no mention. 2) If you type in the soldier's name in the Savannah Morning News search box, nothing comes up. I'm also curious why I can't find any reporting from any other American media source. Although the info came from an Elgindy-related link, this really isn't an Elgindy matter, and the topic probably belongs on another thread. However, I know folks who participate in this forum are pretty good at figuring things out, reading between the lines so to speak.
