The main thing I remember about '73-74 was, for example, if one bought 100 shares of a stock at $30, the commission would be $150. Timely information was nearly impossible to come by, executions took several minutes, usually the broker would call you back an hour or so later and inform as to what happened. Few stocks were optionable. I realize that wasn't the question, but those are my thoughts about that time.
Oh, also, the tape would be 30 minutes to an hour late if more than 10 or 12 million shares traded.

Hi KB,

<<Anyone else feel this market is confused?>>

My ports have been hammered mercilessly in the past few weeks. My IRA down probably 20% YTD now. We've got alot of mixed technical signals. I finally threw up my hands and decided finally that its useless to go long right now. I'm hanging onto some OSX issues and a gold stock, but until we get a Sept 11 style capitulation, I've had it with long positions.

Are you shorting any of the home builders? HOV looks about at the point where it is ready to make another sharp move down. IMO.

So I've got a couple tech shorts on and a gold long in my after tax port. Will consider shorting HOV tomorrow. Now I find myself hoping the markets will plunge hard.

Yet there are enough market technical signals in line to justify a modest relief rally here. MacLellans oversold, 5-day TRIN MA extremely high, Put/Call ratios way up there in record high territory. Not saying it will happen, but it just might.

Haven't heard from PVZ lately - wonder what he has to say.
