I don't think IBM has the cachet it once did. Dumping the disk drive operation at a loss amidst reports of problems with the quality of their drives doesn't help. Nor do reports of problems with their semiconductors (e.g. Sun cache). Nor do layoffs in Global Services. Nor does their massive debt.
