So, I was just in the middle of responding to a message somewhere when my doorbell rings. It is one of our gardeners and he is saying that I have a fire in the backyard.

So, I piece together three lengths of hose because the fire is all the way in the very back of the yard. Actually, the bulk of the fire is in my neighbor's yard and has spread to our shrubs that are on the fence. So I put out the fire, it was only about 10' x 10', but I notice that there are still these hot fragments sputtering through the air with little smoke trails. And then I step on something in the grass that burns my foot (I went out barefoot). It is then that I look up and notice that the transformer, or more accurately, the switch fuse is spewing hot ceramics down on top of me. So I water down the whole area and go call the fire dept. They tell me that "no, this is an emergency and that I should call 911". So I did. Fire Dept gets here and says "well, there's nothing more that we can do, gotta wait for the DWP". So I did. And now I have power again.

Quite the fun day at the McKie residence.
