there are some seriously breathtaking parts to croatia, just don't expect a fully "western" level of creature-comfort. it's much better than it was a decade ago, but you don't recover from 40+ years of communism - even the human-face-of kind - overnight. i lived in switzerland for almost two years - near Montreaux - and had a wonderful time but somehow it just didn't fit me. i don't have any complaints or criticisms, we just...didn't fit. all i know about NZ i learned from watching Xena. looks like a beautiful land, and they sure know how to sail.
