No, I AM really a Telecomguy...been in telecom business (PBX, network switching systems, callback, ITF, and now in long-distance business in Europe) for over 20 years in Canada and Europe.

These all-you-can-eat plans are what caused all the problems in the Data/Internet world. You cannot ever make decent profit when you offer unlimited usage because then you are mostly likely to get customers who are heavy users.

People are not stupid. If they only make few calls, they won't sign up for this plan. If they make tons of calls, they will sign up -- but this will cost WCOM dearly as they have to pay the ILEC and cannibalize their own long-distance revenue that they are charging BY THE MINUTE right now.

To me this is a dumb move on WCOM's part.

At least, they should put some sort of cap on maximum minutes allowed per month....
