MG, the point is that software continues moving forward. So what if Office 2002 doesn't have anything that you can't get from Office 97? The software upgrade cycle will continue no matter what. Those companies still on, say, Office 97 will find themselves behind companies on Office XP.

The only point that the naysayers have is that hardware is advancing much further than software. Blame it on Microsoft, or don't. It's happening anyway, and PC upgrade cycles are lengthening as a result.
