That Arab League proposal you're so hot on insisted on the 'right of return', so it's a non-starter as far as Israel is concerned

IMO, the key part of the Arab league proposal is not in the details, but in the principle that they will recognize Israel if there is justice. If peace does come to the region, the Arab League will get most of the credit IMO.

Some additional thoughts about what the President may be thinking in regards to peace in the region. He can be difficult to figure out, as evidenced by his surprise announcement about Homeland Defense. Nobody saw that coming.

The President does not control Israel, as evidenced by him getting physically angry on television awhile back because Israel would not pull out of the camps. IMO, the President is waiting for the Palestinian militant groups to give him ammunition, in the form of a cease fire, for his upcoming argument with Prime Minister Sharon.

If there is a cease fire, The President could say to Prime Minister Sharon "See,they have been reasonable because they have called cease fire, why aren't you being reasonable?"

I also think Lebanon may be involved in the Presidents thoughts, as evidenced by the upcoming visit by the Syrian Foreign Minister. The first time in more than two years.

The President said he would reveal his plans after consulting with President Mubarak and Prime Mininster Sharon next week.
