IMO, the President has exerted serious pressure on Prime Minister Sharon. Do you think that Prime Minister Sharon would even consider "giving up all of the settlements", unless the President has applied serious pressure? The irony is that the Palestinians don't think the President has applied pressure because the President does not want a time table. IMO, the President does not want a time table because that would be tantamount to ordering a state of Palestine into existence. IMO, here are some of the Presidents thoughts; Just as there was no time table for the American Revolution, there should be no time table for Palestine. Not because Israel rejects the idea, but because Palestinians must be able to travel the world and never hear whispers like, "there is only a Palestine because America ordered it." See the irony, Palestinians accuse America of being an Israeli puppet, but it is actually the Palestinians misinterpreting an act of American respect for the Palestinian people. If America did order Palestine into existence, by calling for a time table, wouldn't that be disrespecting 50 years of struggle by the Palestinian people? IMO, The President believes that since the Palestinians have come this far along the path to peace, they should be allowed to walk the last few steps. IMO, all that is required is that the Palestinians be unified, and demonstrate their willingness for peace. I think Palestine is right before their eyes, all they have to do is reach for it by knowing when to fight, and when not to fight. IC
