If you want to discuss in history classes how particular religious beliefs affected the development of the country, I might be convinced that's ok. But I would expect it to be in the context of how, e.g., the beliefs of non-Christians also affected the country, and not to endorse any particular religious beliefs over alternatives. It would not require posting the ten commandments on the wall. Somehow I doubt that's what you want.
