Are you saying Hawk that you are a proponent of the US adopting the Israeli assassination policies?

we had some of that policy for most of our history.

With this new, "Proactive" strategy we have announced to initate "First Strike" against terrorists, I assume it would include hit teams. We have used them in Columbia against Drug Lords.

Here is a reference to what we are supposed to have done in Vietnam. I read in reports from interviews with North Vietnamese Officers that they considered it very effective against them.

>>>From 65-68 U.S. and Saigon intel services maintained an active list of VC cadre marked for assassination. Phoenix Program for 69 called for "neutralizing" 1800 a month. About one third of VC targeted for arrest had been summarily killed. Security committees established in provincial interrogation centers to determine fate of VC suspects, outside of judicial controls. Green Berets and navy SEALs most common recruits for Phoenix Program. Green Beret detachment B-57 provided admin cover for other intel units. One was project cherry, tasked to assassinate Cambodian officials suspected of collaborating with NVNese, and kgb. Another was project oak targeted against svnese suspected collaborators. They controlled by special assistant for counterinsurgency and special activities, which worked with CIA outside of general abrams control. Stein. J. (1992), A Murder in Wartime, 360-1.<<<

Are we going to set up teams to go into countries like France and take out Terrorists that we know are there, and can't get at? I hope so. Better them than us!

I don't believe the Israelis either invented assassination, or that we'd be "copying" them..

The US has a long history of using "extreme prejudice" against enemy leadership, including the Phoenix program during Vietnam..

And yes... I do advocate it against non-democratic societies since it is the despotic leadership in these nations which dominate, repress, and drag millions of people into misery and death through their delusions of grandeur.

And will it bite us in the butt?? Possibly.. But hey.. Saddam Hussein tried to kill G. Bush Sr...

And we'd be FAR MORE EFFECTIVE at killing their leadership than they are at killing ours.

Besides.. We have a plan of succession in place in our society, whereas your average dictator does not.
