Yes, and they owned 106M as of 12-31-01, so they've bought 216M in five months.

You're right, here's an earlier story about AC, so the fact is not completely positive:

New York-based Alliance, already under scrutiny for buying more shares of collapsed energy trader Enron Corp (Other OTC:ENRNQ.PK - News) as that stock tumbled last year, roughly doubled its stake in WorldCom Group (NasdaqNM:WCOM - News) in the January-March period, according to a regulatory filing this week.
