Anadigics Inc. today opened a $10 million expansion to its 6-inch fab located at company headquarters in Warren, N.J.

The company said the 10,000-square-foot expansion has doubled the company’s fabrication capacity and will help meet the growing demand for its wireless products. Anadigics recently raised its Q2 revenue expectations from $21 million to $23 million.

"We were one of the first companies to recognize the potential of 6-inch InGaP HBT technology, and we are now reaping the results in terms of increasing revenues through growth in demand for our power amplifier products," said Bami Bastani, CEO and president of Anadigics, in a statement.

The company plans to use the additional capacity to increase its production of 6-inch InGaP HBT wafers. These are the basis of the company’s ICs, which are used in power amplifier products for cell phones and PDAs. The expanded facility provides Class 10 operation, which denotes the air purity of the manufacturing environment at a sub-micron particle level. The company claims it is among the most advanced cleanrooms using gallium arsenide (GaAs) technology.
