Imagine if the head coach of an unsuccessful sports team or the CEO of an unprofitable company surrounded himself with armed thugs, orchestrated violent attacks on those who oppose him, and controlled a military police force with no checks on using it.

Do you want to be the one to deliver him a pink slip?

Okay, that sounds reasonable... what leader are you talking about?

Similarly, why doesn't Israel elect a leader who will sign the peace treaty the Palestinians and the Arab countries (and the entire world except for America) have been offering for several decades? Why not just accept that Israel won't conquer all of Eretz Israel? Settle for 3/4 of Palestine, and let there be peace. Instead, the Israeli public fell for the two-bit shyster war mongers Sharon and Barak playing their little "good cop / bad cop" game in 2000. The result was the Intifada with its horrible death toll.
