"Why can't a statement be just a description or an observation? Why does everything have to be support or opposition?"

In this case, the term was cast as both a description and as an accusation of wrong doing. The label under to your definition was wrongfully applied to Laz (according to his testimony). It seems to me the label should be challenged under the circumstance. Laz has just cause to present a defense and you have an obligation to support your allegations or come forth with some groveling and apologizing...well maybe just apologizing, I threw the groveling part in for twit effect.

Oh, come now. I may be dumb, but I'm not stupid.

When is a "description or an observation" a charge? When it contains a pejorative. Think about it.

And you never did address those other issues: Every time some jumps into a conversation they were not previously in, are they an "outside agitator"? How about the cases I presented where X was involved? Would like me to find cases where you did the same?

Now you may say that they are not when they do present views in opposition to those of one of the previous participants. How long do think it would take me to find cases where you and X increased the heat?

Want to find an "outside agitator"? Look in the mirror.

Why can't a statement be just a description or an observation? Why does everything have to be support or opposition? Why can't we have explanations without them being interpreted as defenses or confessions? Just neutral explanations. Why can't we find someone else's position interesting even though we don't agree with it. Why can't someone's position be plausible even though we think another explanation more likely? Why can't things just be neutral? Why can't they just be?
