I don't recall ever thinking that. I don't recall that being part of any agreement. In fact it was not. He himself stated that he might be banned later. The moderation power means nothing if the moderator cannot apply it to anyone as needed. I cannot ever imagine using it against most of the people who post on SMBR. OTOH, they behave in a reasonable manner and don't level deeply insulting, deeply personal, scurrilous charges against others. Can you recall a time when you have ever made the sort of charges CH is famous for? Or I? Or JLA? Or E? Or Karen? Or twfowler? Or marcos? Or jttmab? Or Constant Reader? Or .....? He never had a license to maul anyone he wanted. I would never give him that. His record is to bad to even consider such a thing. As far as his being banned for activities on other threads, that certainly common enough. His friend X has pre-banned me from every moderated thread she has ever created. I never had the chance to place even one post on those threads. What basis other than posts on OTHER THREADS could she have for doing that? Solon raised a good point. If a contract existed (which is spurious BS), that contract was terminated by completion, that completion being his admission to SMBR. He had no other "claim" under that "contract". Had CH given E a meaningful apology after his insult, we would not be having this discussion. Instead his "apology" was worse than the original assault. As usual, he is his own worst enemy.
