A million deaths would pale in importance to the loss of the system of government by the people which we have had for these last 200 years. Are you so willing to give up all our country achieved because of a tragedy of relative pinprick proportions. If democracy is lost then the victims of 9/11 were only the first. Pearl Harbor was even less a pinprick relatively speaking. I don't see the perspective that allows you to claim the sky is falling.
