GZ,

I think you are remiss in equating a Western colony, funded and driven by Western corporate and military achievement.

The Arab countries are newly hatched from Western colonialism since the Ottomans. The economies they have are predominately resource extraction economies (a typical colonial development) and their mindset has not caught up with the wealth that oil now provides them to develop a complex, democratic society. That is not to say that they lack individuals are are very technologically advance (mostly as a result of Western educational facilities, but not always).

The Arab, and other parts of the world can and will do it, in time. What you consider jealousy is in fact anger for years of domination by Western powers who saw fit to carve up their lands, place and re-place leaders (?) who would serve the needs of their masters. the State of Israel is an extention of those Westerner manipulations and geo-political goals.

IMHO, I do not believe Israel is a democracy unless you are speaking about Isra-Eli Jews, (Palestinian Jews), real or ersatz, for the system is stacked against Arab Israelis (Palestinian Arabs).

Lastly, Palestinians are not the wealthy of the Arab world and although the Saudis and others Arab countries fund the PLO and Arafat, they do not wish to aid Isra-El and relief them of their responsibilites of making the victims of the establishment of the State of Isra-El whole again.

The establishment of the State of Isra-El, against the wishes of the majority culture in the region and the Palestine Mandate in particular,
was an act of war.
