I have not read his book, but I have voted for Browne in the past. What the US needs is a sword weilding Scott trotting along the presidential campaign trail shouting Freedom. No has had the guts to do so recently, but I think the country would embrace such a candidate. The welfare rolls have been substantially trimmed under Clinton and the previous Bush and I don't the the largesse votes as being as critical as they have been in the past.

I remember listening to a college professor years ago talk about the fall of the Roman empire. He said that the invading tribes such as the Franc, Goths, Visigoths, etc. were not interested in the destruction of the Roman Empire. To the contrary--they wanted a piece of the pie. They wanted to share in the great possibilities the existence of the empire offered and actually worked toward keeping the thing going as long as possible.

I am hesitant to view growing minorities in the US as invading tribes, but others might view them as such so I point out that these minorities want to keep the miracle going just like the primarily white founders did.

You ever hear of a black professor from George Mason University named Walter Williams? He is the epitomy of libertarianism. I don't feel that the invasion of the US by minorities to be a danger. A large minority population in my area is the Hmong/Laotian community. A decade ago when I was a substitute teacher I dealt with a lot of Hmongs. They had extreme language problems, especially the boys. I did some sub work a year ago and it was hard to find any without perfect English. Americanization among them has proceeded at a rapid pace. Many are college material--especially the more language proficient girls. You think they want to go back to the old ways? No. They will help keep things going.
