Salman Rushdie got one from the Ayatollah Khomeini for insulting the prophet Mohammad. Some say it was revoked but others say it's still on! Who might issue the Fatwah this time around?>> The way I understand the situation ANY crazed or half-baked)or sane or valid) Islamic religious leader or the head of any Islamic Nation can issue a Fatwah . Are there not Fatwahs curremntly issued against 3/4 - 7/8 of the populations of the U.S., Brittan, and The Pope. I suspect as there are Islamic Religious Leaders currently issuing "Convert of Die" orders for all of the non-Islamic world, these orders are the equal of Fatwahs issued against(including but not limited to - sp.?)(in no specific order): Dr. Billy Graham (Jr. & Sr.) Pat Robertson(700 Club) Dr George Carey (The Archbishop of Canterbury - Church of England) H. H. Tenzin Gyatso, the 14th Dalai Lama "leaders" of the other Buddhist "disciplines" All living persons with the title - "Swami","Guru","Sage"..., of the Hindu faith All Rabbis & Rabbinical Councils of the Jewish faith The Royal family of Japan - Shinto (?) Right Rev Dr. Finlay Macdonald, Moderator Church of Scotland (though the church holds the "Head" of their religion is Jesus Christ, one would suspect a Fatwah couldn't be effectively be issued against Him & the Moderator would need stand this "duty" in His stead) All Pentecostal Evangelists Bishop H. David Burton, presiding bishop the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints Rev. Mark S. Hanson - Bishop E.L.C.A. Rev. Sun Myung Moon - Unification Church Rev. John H. Thomas - President of the United Church of Christ Richard's note: Sorry for not listing all the other major religious leaders of the world - no disrespect intended.
