I was wishful thinking assuming WCOM would be announcing wonderful news at the shareholder meeting but frankly I was a little disappointed. I suppose the situation is that they have to remain conservative. I'm still optimistic about the longer-term outlook but I do think it may take a bit of time yet. Second half of the year is probably the time perception will start to really turn around because investors may want to see numbers first. This time next year WCOM should be sailing.

I think there were others who thought like you and were disappointed; hence, the sell off yesterday. Nonetheless, if the way Sidgmore and company spin their news is a indication of their management capabilities, then I think WCOM is in good hands.

I also believe the recent lack of huge swings in WCOM's price like those experienced by PRGN and TYC is an indication to me that a lot of the shorts have left the house. And I think that's a good thing. Shorts are an oft maligned group who on average usually do better DD and have better information at their disposal than most longs. Since it appears the level of short interest has dropped in recent weeks, I see that is another positive. Can anyone confirm that drop off with real numbers? I don't know where to look.

TIA.

ted

here's something interesting (copied from a yahoo post)

caida.org

On the far right pulldown box, choose "commercial backbones".

In the left lower bottom pulldown, choose "UUnet".

Its a visual representation of the global internet backbone, you can choose any vendor or set of vendors and they appear in different colors. Some are outdated but UUnet and Sprint are recent enough, unfortunately AT&T and C&W are outdated.
