OT: That depends on how much control you think pitchers have and whether or not a pitching:batting contest is meant to be a test of a batter's fear of personal injury. Golf could be a more interesting game if the others in the foursome were permitted to throw rocks at the guys as they tee off. Then we'd find out who was really the bravest golfer.

As for hoops I don't know why 50% is an important figure to you. The taller hoop would eliminate some of the changed/diminished aspects of the inside game. It would also return the game closer to the original contest Dr. Naismith envisioned.
