Re: "Huh...why so many problems?"

I just gave you a Reader's Digest condensed version of why it's cheaper to educate a classroom of Catholic kids as opposed to an equal number of public school kids. (I feel like a special ed teacher at times in responding to you.) This time do try to pay attention:

Public schools have to accept all kids. Catholic schools don't.

Public schools have to spend big bucks educating special ed kids. Catholic schools don't.

Public schools get all the kids that were kicked out of Catholic schools.

In some school district, the public school has to provide transportation for the Catholic kids.

Yes, public schools across America are facing a wide variety of problems, including lack of support from parents, attracting qualified teachers at low salaries, crumbling buildings, and having to deal with right-wing assholes who think the answer to everything is to "get tough."
