KENT STATE HISTORY

Hi Karen,

Compared with JDN's biased version of events, the description you've provided shows categorically and without prejudice that the National Guard was acting in a completely irresponsible and sadistic fashion, and was able to get away with murder.

Dear Karen: The account you give is basically accurate as to events but it doesnt highlight those parts which caused the problem. As to the Bldg. I do not recall that building being there. The hilltop was bare except for a chain link fence. The part that SHOULD be emphasized and I didnt myself, is that it is widely believed that these Kent students were mere DUPES used by outsiders who were in among the crowd inciting and leading them. For all we know it was one of them that perhaps fired off a weapon or a firecracker to instigate the entire thing. I am very familiar with this entire event and I tell you I do not hold any of those Guardman guilty of anything. I do think they were poor led by their officer and they lacked the discipline I was accustomed to myself but this was an unfortunate event probably fomented by an enemy of our government. This is why you must be careful when you hear people say things, anything can be twisted and turned to further ones cause. jdn

karen, that is one stupid fariy tale spin of what happens in the fog of a protest. I witnessed an antiwar protest and several were hurt because the police were defending themselves. Those hurt may have only been guilty of being clueless to the fact that they were between the police and several dressed in what looked like medics with red cross marking carrying knapsacks full of rocks.

I observed all from a position raised above the crowd with a safe exit point if things got out of hand. (I expected the worse, it was plain common sense) I saw the danger, I saw the so called they were just kids, college kids throwing rocks and bottles and shouting insults and cheers to arouse the crowd. I also saw what I guess was a student attempting to cross thru the crowd oblivious to what was going on. The police advanced to move the crowd back.
The police line went thru this lost in thought student. He was a casualty because he ignored what was going on around him. In reality this student stepped into traffic and was run over. Sadly at Kent State the events ignited by they were just kids, college kids were deadly. I do wonder at how hateful and thoughtless so many are to not understand the deep victimization of the member of the National Guard were. Their suffering is in certain cases as bad or worse than all the injured.

The goal of several "they were just kids, college kids" was to create victims just like this. You are simply to stupid and naive or dishonest to comprehend this.

SO be ignorant and spread the propaganda of vacant liberal minded lefty loons.
