That's because they didn't spend the money they needed to spend to market Athlon. It's such an incredible waste. They rely on Circuit City sales people to explain what that stupid rating system means.

200M shortfall is incredibly bad. Its so bad that I wonder if AMD lost HPQ. And I think overhyping of Hammer cost AMD 10-20% of their CPU volume. Its obvious that you can't tell diddly-squat from retail advertising.
