Dear Albert:

How could it be a buck or so? AMD has 300+ million shares. That would mean a loss of over 300 million or base expenses of over $950 million. AMD has stated that $900 million would be a small profit. They did state that units are down 10% or so. ASPs are probably down 15% or so for a revenue shortcut of 25% or so. About what was stated for an even June instead of the typical doubled June. That is probably why no one could tell until mid June how the quarter would go and AMD is in the same boat with everyone else in the PC business. If the same thing happened to Intel, they could be looking at a Q2 of less than $6 billion in revenue which would be a loss even without writing off Goodwill and all of their old tricks.

Having Tbred sold out for June was a mistake unless they got very good high prices for them. We will see how many Tbreds were sold in the CC giving us a better idea of how Q3 is shaping up. I suspect HPQ bought 100K to 200K Tbreds mostly mobile versions.
