Interesting and non-combative conversations always seem to be like magnets for other forces.

I didn't think she was talking about the specific transaction you reference but about JLA's arrival, which seemed to me to be what triggered the change of tone, and which occurred just before your arrival and was emphasized by your arrival in such close proximity.

IMO, the arrival of JLA and what immediately followed it changed the tone of the thread, which had been fairly smooth for a while up until then. If you reviewed the posts, you noted that I commented on that shift as well, lightheartedly blaming in on Rambi because I was so sure that attributing it to Rambi would easily be seen as a joke.

Sure you were defending X. She did something clearly wrong, and it took only 3 posts to show it when similar situations have been long and convoluted, and you 1) characterized the simple, simple situation as having required a lot of research, and 2) proposed the blame for the unfairness was equal.

Regarding your point 1, Laz just pointed out to me by PM that my reference to research might look like I was making reference to the obsession thing. I can see where that might be a sore point and it was careless of my to use the word. What I was had in mind with that clause was to say something positive about your effort prior to disagreeing with it, a common practice in argument.

With regard to your point 2, I thought that the "edge" was more or less even with maybe the edge on the "edge" going to you in those three posts. I can demonstrate that if it matters.

And I wasn't defending X. A pox on both as far as I'm concerned. Nor was I confining my comments to the brief transaction you referenced. It was just one among many. And if everyone doesn't stop it, there will be many, many more. We're getting a glimpse of hell.

It's like "can't we all just get along" for heaven's sake.
