On the other hand. A step forward.

Upstarts win 3 of 4 Quebec by-elections

nationalpost.com{E99DD7B0-274D-478C-8D68-31BB63C0497F}

During the run-up to yesterday's vote, both the PQ and the Liberals
focused their attacks on the upstart party. Mr. Landry said the party's
platform, which includes a flat tax on personal income, more
private-sector involvement in health care and vouchers to expand access
to private schools, mirrored proposals from the far right of the U.S.
political spectrum. The Liberals accused the ADQ of preparing an
American-style health system.

.....

With nearly all ballots counted, the ADQ had received 46% of the total
vote, compared with 30% for the PQ and 22% for the Liberals.

Quebec has always been very high tax and socialist so this is significant. It will have an effect on policy whoever wins the next election there.

I agree with Ecker's moves. If you read them closely, they're not onorous, but they are necessary. You have to be careful about what is "finally learned". You can't apply stereotypes liberally. You don't want to throw the baby out with the bath water. I challenge you to show how Ecker's moves undermine the economy.
