I've heard this story time and time again. At
my "old" place, "management" was wanting to go with
MSFT (mgt. - a group with 12" pockets and 6" hands). Fortunately, we didn't (It may be due to my jumping
on the conference table and shouting NO, NO, NO, may
have helped). ORCL is still damn expensive, but if
you are making the move to RDB, it's still the best
bet in town. Myself, I still prefer the old flat based
files that are much easier to recover (with shadowing,
and timely backup). Faster access, less disk space,
and every one understands them.
