You believe it is 100%. I believe it is probably closer to zero.

While Intel may delay some of the writedowns to manage their income statement they may also decide to just clear the account with a one-time charge as some of the other telecomms did.

This is a paper issue and has no affect on the money in the bank or Intel's future cash flow.

EDIT: Any impairment to the value of Intel overall should already be reflected in the stock as was the case with the other massive telecomm writedowns.

This issue is of no concern to the discussion of AMD, IMHO.

On the other hand, I couldn't find any information on how AMD's considerably more modest purchase of Alchemy was accounted for. Any ideas? Again, this is more a curiosity than any concern as the money has been spent and so the purchase itself has no adverse cash flow impact other than interest.
