Petz, re: Intel's goodwill and Intel Online Services Shutdown

Was the latter item a component of Intel's goodwill asset? I don't consider Intel's goodwill be wholly unimpaired just closer to zero than 100% impaired.

From Intel's PR it doesn't note any associated goodwill but also doesn't exclude the possibility:

The charge is related to the write-down of capital assets and other costs associated with the phasing out of IOS activity.
intel.com

I am not familiar with how IOS was obtained/developed but just consider the topic of Intel's goodwill to be overblown. If they wrote it all off this quarter... how will this affect AMD, let alone affect Intel?

John:

"AMD's archrival Intel, which suffered the double whammy of announcing it would have to take a $ 100 million charge to cover the costs of winding down its Intel Online Services unit, fell $1.93 to $20.09..."

INTC's assets are bloated with $5 billion of worthless? goodwill and $18 billion in net PPE, up from $11.7 billion 2 years ago...

Once again, INTC's net PPE has increased $6 billion in 2 years while revenues have declined by almost $3 billion in the same inrterval...AMD's net PPE has remained flat in this 2 year period while AMD's revenues increased $1 billion...(Maybe INTC should've spend an additional $6 billion in PPE so there revenues could have been flat...hehehe)...

Conclusion: INTC's PPE is all jacked up but no market to sell in to...Just not a healthy situation for INTC...

By the way, anybody else think INTC might not get to $6 billion in q2 revenues??? Maybe even closer to $5 billion?
