Oslo was in 1993. The world (including the U.S.) supported that. Clinton brokered a discussion of returning most of the occupied lands before the suicide bombing wave began. The Europeans have supported the Palestinian cause for a long time. The Palestinians may not have believed those to be perfect solutions, those solutions did not give them everything they wanted, but compromises rarely do. IMO that does not leave the current tactic as their ONLY alternative.
