I cannot quite remember if Phyllis went to Swarthmore, though it would fit. She is married to Bernie Jacob, a law professor at Hoffstra (and St. John's alum), and they live in a rather nice apartment on Park Avenue.

Sometimes the connections are more sinister. I met this fellow who was involved in a plot to murder someone for money, a tale that Joseph Wambaugh ended up writing about, and about which they made a tv miniseries. Sometimes they are charming: I met Sherrie Lewis (the puppeteer) because she married a St. John's alum, and they came to a Homecoming reunion. I used to watch her faithfully when I was little. Sometimes there are tantalizing things that you cannot get enough information on: Some of my Jewish relatives ended up in France, and I did not know of this until I was an adult. I just found out that they had to be hidden by a count at his chateau to avoid capture by the Nazis, but my grandmother, who is almost 95, either will not or cannot give me more detail.
