Thank you, Rambi- I do have much compassion for these young women...

Especially considering that the traditions of the law are a heritage of a male-dominated society.

The temptation of a teenager is often to conceal wrong-doing to avoid shame or embarrassment. Guys do this too, but they are never confronted with anything like this particular situation. I could see a young girl simply putting off thinking about a concealed pregnancy, with the immature thought that something may happen and the whole thing will just go away on its own and no one will ever know. I can think of young women I have known to whom this could easily happen.

I suppose some kind of punishment is called for, but whatever it turns out to be, I believe it will be out of proportion to what happened.

I know a baby is dead, and that is a terrible thing. But I just have trouble computing that as a crime, in this particular situation. There is a young guy involved here, too, who probably will not be touched by this in any way.
