Jennifer L. Paluseo wrapped the baby in a towel and put him in the plastic bag that suffocated him, prosecutor Renee Steese said. Paluseo then cleaned blood from the bathroom and dumped the bag in a trash room after e-mailing her friends about mundane subjects and watching television, the prosecutor said. ''She said she put it out of her mind,'' Steese said. Paluseo, 19, pleaded not guilty in Hampshire Superior Court to the murder charge and one count of removing or conveying a dead body. She was released on $25,000 bail. Paluseo, whose parents and sister attended yesterday's hearing, left the courtroom crying and in handcuffs. She will stay with her parents in Plymouth until her next court date, scheduled for Aug. 12. Paluseo's lawyer, Terry Nagel, said his client suffered from a condition that made her suppress the fact that she was pregnant. He called the condition ''a phenomenon that happens to some young women for whom the pregnancy procedure goes terribly awry.'' ''The result is that they don't realize they've given birth,'' he said. The baby boy, who weighed just over 9 pounds, was found May 2 by a janitor at William James Hall, an all-women's dorm on the 24,000-student Amherst campus.
