Vesper launches new services and products

Brazil, Jul 14, 2002 (Jornal do Commercio/SABI from COMTEX) -- The chairman of Telemar' mirror company
Vesper, Luiz Kaufmann, said the company is financially health and ready to grow. Through the launch of products
Vesper will be the lower cost carrier of Brazil. The company has recently launched the plan "Fale a Vontade
Especial", targeted at the users of Vesper Portatil and a virtual store. Vesper will also introduce the Rede 1xEV-DO
service aimed at speeding up data transmission. The company has two business units, operates in 165 municipalities
including the capitals of 17 states and has invested a total of R$2.2bil since January 2000. Vesper is held by VeloCom
(50%), Bell Canada (34%) and Qualcomm (16%). The company predicts a turnover of R$500mil this year and
between 800,000 and 1mil clients.
