Incredible movie, hard hitting impact on the senses. But it hits home and I bet it makes some folks squirm over their feelings and deeds but the truth hurts in cases like this It sure brought up a few thoughts in my mind.. How does the pro-death penalty crowd deal with this? Do they sympathize with the establishment? Do these proponents of capital punishment realize, in this case, anyway, that the death penalty was responsible for one more death? and contributed heavily to a second. So two more people were victims of the act.. And of course the tragic family suffering.. I wonder if there has been studies made of the impact on innocent people close to the executed and what were the results. I wonder about the fate of these "survivors", if they did, what did the children grow up to be like?.. With permanent scars? that led them to be constructive members of society or NOT..and become a dredge on society and continue the vicious cycle. Some of the other things that come to mind that I knew before, of course. :).. Wisdom does not come with age. Some people are able to change due to events around them, some are not.. Some people are never embarrassed by what they say, And the same are never affected by the events around them, it seems.. Fortunately some are sickened, literally.. Even the way sex was portrayed in the movie.. Early on, very demeaning to the woman by that prision-based culture.. slam, bam, no thank you mam.... Like father, like son, except the son showed a degree of feeling by asking the prostitute to go out for dinner afterwards, an early clue to his conscious. .. Towards the end.. a much more equal and beautiful arrangement.. A learning process there.. Anyway a great movie that could be used in selected junior or senior level high school "human development" classes, IMO.. m
