AMD confirms – no Clawhammer before Christmas

Web site told by AMD
By Mike Magee, 20/06/2002 19:54:15 BST

A REPORT ON AMD Zone. has confirmation that it's unlikely we'll see an AMD Clawhammer on sale before Christmas this year.
That confirms early INQUIRER reports, when AMD Hammerman Richard Heye told us that systems using the chip, probably to be called Athlon Ultra or Super or whatever, won't be available before December.

Several third party chipset manufacturers have also told the INQUIRER that support from them is unlikely before the first quarter of next year.

That doesn't mean AMD won't get its own chipset out on time, however.

You can find the AMD Zone full report here.

It quotes AMD's investor manager, Toni Beckham.

The same site also reports local paper The Statesmen claiming some redundancies were likely in Austin because of the poor second quarter forecast AMD delivered the other day.
