Gay education in grade schools ... a ban on internal combustion engines ... reparations. A trio of right-wing rage issues.

Each of the three examples you cited is yet another example of attempts to draw universals from isolated incidents. It's a typical Rush Limbo tactic: Select one isolated example, try to paint it as ubiquitous, then sit back and let the phones ring. So let's see some "proof" from legitimate media that a majority of "liberals" or Democrats favors a, b or c above.

For the record, I am against teaching any form of "alternative lifestyle" in public elementary schools. I'd have to think about whether such should be addressed in high school. I believe in family values, but I don't believe government should be in the business of value-setting. The courts have already ruled that clear Judeo-Christian references should be removed from public buildings, including schools, based on separation of church and state, and I agree with that line of reasoning. Who specifically on "the left" seeks to ban all internal combustion engines? Names please. What I object to are gas-guzzling SUVs proliferating during a time when we should become less-dependent on Saudi oil for patriotic reasons. (Do you have a problem with that line of reasoning?) As far as reparations, no money should be handed out in this regard, but I have no problem with awarding incentives to disenfranchised people based on attainment of education.

As far as the issue of distribution of wealth ... my main focus is getting Big Business and Fat Cats to pay their FAIR SHARE. (You have a problem with that?) If, as a small businessman, you pay taxes at X rate, why should Big Business pay at a rate of X minus 10 percentage points ... or even pay no taxes at all, a la Enron?

I continue to be amazed that small business owners don't scream and holler because of the tax disparity between small businesses and Big Business.
