B.K.,

"Try using Find (Start / Find / Files and Folders...). Enter a "?." in the "Named:" box and "browse" to the "C:\WINNT\" folder for the "Look in:" location then click on "Find Now". "?" is a wild card that represents a single character. If any files or folders are found, that will be the file (of folder) that is not being backed up."

Found two entries: the first is a Microsoft file titled "|" (actually a narrow vertical box) taking up 4K on the disk, but with 0 bytes and with a symbol that looks like hieroglyphics at the top when the file is highlighted. The second is a folder titled "3" which is Lexmark driver in "C:\WINNT\system32\spool\drivers\w32x86", but it is 15.9 megabytes... far larger than the file not being backed up and with a "3" at the top when highlighted.

I'm at a loss as to the strange symbol over the first file when it is highlighted... nor is it the same as the name of the file. My main concern is that if it is not being backed up, obviously it will not be restored if necessary.

I did a thorough Scandisk, but no errors appeared. Again, I am using WIN2000 Pro with NTFS file system.

Thanks again for trying to help. Any idea what the crazy symbol indicates and/or what that file is? Also, the log (as in my original post) shows only one file not being backed up and with a definite number of bytes not being backed up, but far different that "0" bytes or the size of the Lexmark driver folder.
