Mike, yeah - the gurus want us to buy their housing stocks that have already run up 100% after, selling our AMAT, so they can then buy it themselves cheaper. Do you know more about fundamentals of these other sectors? You also have to make sure you know about their time frame. Some tell you to sell because price recovery might be 3 months away, others don't mind waiting 2 years as long as you get a double after that.

I admit that now it's FA that helps me keep the faith.

Gottfried

If you did not sell tech you would be crazy to do so now. The current market feels like the opposite of where we were in early 2000. I should have know better and sold everything when the the news had a nyc taxi driver who had his cab with a wireless laptop recommending Cisco. I believe that tech will come back but do have concerns as to the time frame since this time we are coming off of very lofty levels. The average bear market lasts apx two years or less and I believe we have to go back to some time in the 30s when we had three consecutive down years in the NASDQ; so the odds seem to be with those tech investors that can hold on and add at these levels (assuming you still have available funds).

michael97123, when (not if) there is a rally tech will outperform. Also, the semis will outperform tech in general. Not because they represent better value, but because they are more volatile. Look at the percentages of their early spring highs:

SPX - 84%
COMPX - 75%
SOX and SMH - 59.5%

The rally should be in proportion to the declines.

Just wait for the spike in the VXN to 80 and a few days of NASDAQ TICK under 1000 and buy the SMH.

Or the best indicator of all, wait until Zeev announces he is down to 20% cash. Just don't stay too long as I fear that we will see reduced expectations (or lack of visibility) as the second quarter reports come in.

Have to also criticize you on criticizing Kerry's looks.
This started with Rush Limbaugh when they couldn't think of anything else to attack him on. Talking about Kerry's hair and doubling the amount he paid for an expensive haircut. Just a buncha BS. Kerry is a 59 year old man with a very full head of hair (a plus), lean muscular 6'4" craggily handsome look. And yes he smiles and laughs quite a bit. I've met him, I know. Even at his age he does extreme sports, marathons and contact sports for fun. He jumps out of planes for fun. He rides a Harley. He is a crack shot and could probably kick your ass and mine. He is probably the most macho presidentially looking man running in 2004. More so than GW Bush who reminds me sometimes of Alfred E Neumann. Bush is not a bad-looking man, but has had a soft life. And when you fctor in intelligence and character, Kerry makes him look like a midget. Kerry was not tired during the Bush speech. I saw him and he looked genuinely disturbed, angry and concerned about the BS he was being forced to listen to. Bush misrepresented himself constantly, despite the craftiness of his speech. He was deliberately deceicing the American People and the world in many areas. That could make anyone look like he needs an Exedrine.
