There's the rub. I think it takes away from the play in the NFL. It takes away from the momentum, it usurps the field officials' authority. It completely changes the game, and not for the better in my opinion.

The refs will always make mistakes, no question. Just like linemen will make mistakes. Can you imagine what it would be like if each coach were allowed 3 plays per game for do-overs? "Yes they ran the interception back for a touchdown, but the replay clearly shows that my left tackle fell on his ass instead of protecting against the blitz. We'll do it again."

The officials are professionals, and are paid to do the job with as few errors as possible. For the most important games, you use only the best. If one is found cheating, or found to be incompetent, fire him. Other than that, I say let's get on with the game.
