Now, what happens if rough equality of sentencing flies out the window, and people wonder about favoritism or political affiliation of judges, or whatever? I assure you that I am not ignoring the problem. It's a disadvantage. I concede that. Now, go look at the advantages. than making the person assume responsibility for his actions. As I said in one of the earliest posts, the person is designated responsible upon conviction. Accepting that responsibility can also be expressed through reparations and other means. It does not necessarily have to be expressed by jail time.
