It was the night it was announced that Richard Nixon had ordered carpet bombing of Cambodia in 1970. The big swinging dicks were flying B-52's and dropping megatons of ordnance on peaceful villages. In Madison, Wisconsin we were gathering on our mini-Tiannenmen Square and after nightfall, the National Guard surrounded us. Then they flew the black helicopters. 50,000 candlepower spotlights aimed at us, tear gas swirling, 50 calibre machine guns aimed at us by scared 20 year old farm boys. Ah, those were the days my friend, we wished they'd never end. Those were the day. Oh, yes, those were the days. If the present lunatic in the White House has his way. We'll get a chance to relive those precious moments. Tout alors, Four dead in Ohio. But Wisconsin, miraculously only got drunk. Life is good. -Ray

Selva, Ray is pulling your chain. There is a perfectly logical explanation for his little war story. They HAD to use National Guard helicopters because the local cops in Madison were too overweight to charge up Bascom Hill in riot gear. <g> The black helicopters Jay referred to are a type of UFO. Some conspiracy theorists think they are part of a UN-sponsored "New World Order" conspiracy to take over America. This google search should give you an idea... google.com

Hi Selva, As Ray explained, 'black helicopter' means conspiracy and 'THEM'. <<I attended a lecture ... topic was 'Changing Economic Leadership - Is America losing its economic supremacy and leadership, and if so, what is to follow?' ... the American lady from the US Embassy came out in staunch defence of the US, and how all attendees (including speaker) should be grateful for their having attended US universities, that the US was still the ultimate, only magnet for best of education, good life, freedom, etc. No one dared to protest, as there were many of us (incl. moi) without aspirations for a green card>> I just attended two days of Business Week Asia Leadership conference at the Ritz in Hong Kong, and everybody, especially the Americans, lawyers, business leaders, and privately, a former FBI rep stationed in Asia-based US embassy, tore into what is wrong with the world, and its leadership. One American speaker (lawyer) asked the audience to close our eyes for 10 seconds and imagine what must be going through the mind of a suicide bomber. The subject matter had naught to do with the conference, and yet folks were agitated enough to just talk. I think the advantage Hong Kong has over Malaysia and all other supposedly democratic countries is that we have freedom, whereas you have rights, until you do not. Our motto, and our only one, 'money talks, bullshit walks'. Chugs, Jay
