i agree with you. i think ellison is correct and as the saying goes, "only the strong survive". orcl is a survivor and will prosper because of their vision and size. msft hpq, sunw, dell and ibm will survive because of their sizes.

He also is looking for modest top line growth in 2003 meaning the consolidation and washout are happening this year (and last)... I agree with that, this is the trough in software spending and even so orcl is posting good numbers.

I was referring more to standing up in front of a bunch of customers and reporters and saying:

"It will be killing fields. We will grow and prosper. Customers will have fewer choices,"

I agree that Oracle will benefit from less competition; but, given Oracle's already negative image in many sectors, it's better to restrict that type of talk to the board room.
